As an African-American growing up and going to college in the Midwest, the title caught my attention. I have read it at several times of transition in my life. There were also some interesting metaphors about the Unlike everyone else here, I really loved this book. Later, I felt that the Herberts were prophetic about the growing susceptibility of our political system and public opinion to manipulation by those with significant resources. I liked the character development, from that persoective. From 2014 to 2017, she served as Under Secretary of Commerce for Oceans and Atmosphere, and Administrator of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.Unlike everyone else here, I really loved this book. On 7 June 2020, she became the first woman to dive to the Challenger Deep in the Mariana Trench, the deepest part of the Earth's oceans.
